Beloved Kansas City festival has moved from downtown. Here’s what you need to know Since its inception more than 40 years ago, Fiesta Hispana has grown into one of the largest Hispanic festivals in the Midwest, drawing more than 40,000 visitors annually to Kansas City’s Barney Allis Plaza in recent years. Fiesta Hispana will return this weekend, but it will move from its traditional downtown location because of redevelopment work at Barney Allis Plaza. The new venue is in the American Royal Complex in the West Bottoms, next to HyVee Arena. The highlight of the festival is musical entertainment, with Mariachi and Tejano bands and other international groups as well as folkloric and Spanish dance.
